Chittenango Creek, in Cazenovia NY, where I live. I think this is the first painting I've done that shows autumn foliage.

"Otselic Twilight" 16x20" oil on board

This painting was influenced by 19th century American Landscape paintings, George Inness in particular. It depicts the Otselic Valley, where you can still find places that look like they haven't changed much in a hundred years.

"Burn Barrel" 11x14 oil on board

This barn belongs to a farmer named Carl Dennis, who lives up the road from the house where I grew up. I liked the way the patch of sunlight came through on the grass, and the smoke from the trash barrel.

I walk my dog by this spot nearly every day. I get a lot of ideas for paintings that way.

"July Skies" 16x20" oil on board

This scene is near Georgetown, NY, but I never saw it like this in reality. I always edit and change things to make the painting work.
